Teaching in integrated product development - experiences from project-based learning

Product development includes several dimensions as product, market and manufacturing aspects should be regarded within strict time frames. Several functions as well as hierarchical levels take part in the interplay between different development activities and product development projects [1]. The work process has been found to play an important role when striving for an increased efficiency and productivity; consequently, research in the area has received an increased priority. There is a great challenge in the search of knowledge concerning long-term product development process efficiency and in educating people flexible and competent enough for the complex work industrial product development represents.
