INNOVATIVE ENGlNEERiNG EDUCATION THROUGH A DESIGN CONTEST ON FLUIDS ENGINEERING

A contest called -The Water and Wind Design Festival* began in 1995 and is held annually. The twin aim of the contest is to present an opportunity to feel interest in science and technology, and to find the importance of them. The contest comprises three events. We plan to provide the participants a problem for fluids mechanics in each event. But the problems are always determined for not only a technical specialist and a student who major in fluids engineering but also one who receives no engineering education. We hope that trying to solve the problem and participating in the contest have good effects on the creativity and a sense of engineering for any technical and educational level participant. The contest that gathered the wide range participants loom schoolchildren to graduate students is reviewed.
