Innenhofe(internal courtyards) are commonly used building elements in the INn-Salzach region(Bavaria, Germnay). As these building elements are more associated with Mediterrancean or hot humid/dry climates it is of interest to asess their microclimatic behaviour and potential for continental climate. This paper discusses the potential and performance of Innenhofe and their influence on adjacent rooms on the example of old town houses in Wasserburg. The paper is divided in three parts: History and background of Innenhofe in Wasserburg -Four case studies; temperature, illuminance measurements and air flow obsrvations -Analytic work and summary
