The Role of Higher Education in Developing Nuclear Leaders

It is time for the nuclear industry leaders to recognize that current leadership practices need to be challenged and develop future leaders to lead the industry in a changing environment. Higher-education institutes can support the nuclear industry by offering technical degree programs with a concentration in leadership specific to the nuclear industry. College graduates of technology related programs would be prepared for future leadership positions based on a technical background and training in leadership principles. Nuclear industry organizations would benefit from college graduates with an understanding of leadership practices that would provide the leadership necessary in an uncertain environment.
