A novel approach is presented to fabricate carbon nanotube and carbon nanofiber cathodes for field emission display. Electrodeposition is employed to codeposit the CNT/CNF and metal on the cathode. The composite film was etched slightly , and the CNTs protruded from the film to act as filed emitters as a result. The SEM study revealed that die cathodes were covered with dispersed CNTs and CNFs, Due to the benefit of the co-deposition, the roots of die field emitters was embedded in the cathode and no contamination was induced. The codeposition method has distinct cost advantage and better uniformity in large area.
