摘要

Seafaring, as an occupation, poses a lot of threat when it comes to health, and studies have recognized that it is riskier compared with land-based jobs as incidence rates of mortality and morbidity are higher. Nevertheless, pursuing a maritime career is popular in the Philippines. Presently, a sedentary lifestyle or decrease in physical activity among students poses a risk to cardiovascular diseases and other related illnesses. This research evaluated the existing physical fitness programs of maritime schools in the Philippines using the CIPP model as the evaluation framework. Context and input evaluations were conducted through written interviews which were coded according to themes. Context evaluation suggests health as the core value. It also revealed that the responding maritime schools do not have a formal, organized and sustained physical fitness program, resulting in unawareness of its vision and mission. Input evaluation highlighted the needed resources for the program's implementation.
