Thiomers: Preparation and in vitro evaluation of mucoadhesiveparticulate delivery systems

Within this study particles were prepared viacoacervation of the thiomer poly(acrylic acid)-cysteine. Particles displayed a mean particle size of66.1 μm and were stable in aqueous solutions, as48.4% of the thiol groups on the polymer formedintra- and intermolecular disulfide bonds within thepolymeric network. Due to attached thiol groupsparticles showed strongly improved mucoadhesiveproperties.
