A round billet horizontal continuous casting machine at Maanshan Iron and Steel Co., has been developed. The produced PHI 60mm stainless steel round billet can be directly rolled into wire coil without conditioning. Commercial practice of using the c - c machine has proved that both the yield from molten steel to round billet and the yield from billet to finished product have exceeded 95percent. This c - c machine also has some advantages such as short construction period, quick achievement of full production capacity and fast investment return. It can be considered to be the first stainless steel wire rod production line with high efficiency and energy saving characteristics in China.
