Study of thin cobalt films produced in polymer by ion implantation

The metal granular films were synthesized by ion cobalt implantation in polymer being under polymerization at the moment of implantation. The structure of dispersion nanoparticles was studied by using electron diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. It was established that the form and crystalline structure of synthesized particles depended on viscosity of irradiated polymer. The pure β-Co phase, mixed α-Co and β-Co lattice structure and amorphous state of the metal nanoparticles were observed at the different stages of polymerization. The most interesting result was synthesis of cobalt microplates with β-Co monocrystalline lattice at specific implantation conditions.
