Porous materials are commonly used in in various fields such as aeronautics, automotive or buildings for their acoustic properties in absorption and sound transmission.The numerical prediction of their properties generally assumes an isotropic behavior. This paper present a model taking in account a transverse isotropic structure which can describematerials like glasswools. This model coupled with a transfer matrix methods allows to calculate acoustic indicators of sound absorption and insulation systems using transverse isotropic porous medium. Results presented here focus on sound transmission problem for double lightweight walls and take in account the mechanical properties of the material according to the Biot-Allard theory. Transmission loss of a sandwich panels with various porous core are calculated and the effect of the mechanical parameters linked with the specific structure of the insulating material is outlined. Cases when the material is coupled and uncoupled with the panels are discussed.
