Campus C UISI-Ngipik has 4 hectares of land and is Green Campus which focuses on gardening, from seeding, planting, treatment, harvesting, and product processing. The agricultural products, i.e. vegetables harvested at Green Campus UISI are perishable products, which are liable to spoil due to their moisture content. When vegetables are harvested, they start to deteriorate. The quality will lose and may be damaged then would be dangerous if consumed. To hold these products, cold storage facility can be used. With cooling, vegetables stored can be categorized as fresh and healthy products. It is important to determine the storage capacity and total cooling load of a cold storage. Therefore, this study deals with different aspect of design of cold storage. The storage capacity is calculated with volume difference calculation method, and the total cooling load is analyzed with cooling load temperature difference (CLTD) method based on ASHRAE handbook. The results show that the cold storage is able to accommodate 259.68 kg (572.5 lb) of leafy greens vegetables at Green Campus UISI and the total cooling load is 189721.8356 Btu/h. This design is intended to serve as a guide for future fabrication need.
