Lipoprotein Lipase (EC 3.1.13.) is the first enzyme in the series of enzymes used for determination of serun triglyceride in diagnositc kit. It is a surface-active enzymes becase binding to emulsified triglyceride substrates markedly increases their hydroloytic activity compared with their activity toward dissolved substrates. a procedure for the purification of a very hydrophobic lipase from Pseudomomas sp. by ammonium sulfate precipitation, Q-Sepharose chromatography, Octyl-Sephrose choromatography and Sephadex G-25 chromatography was described.
