DEEP-WELL INJECTION OF RADIOACTIVE WASTE IN RUSSIA

The deep-well injection repository operated by NIIAR in Dimitrovgrad, was studied in detail. The operation is licensed until 2001.rnThe assessment of the deep-well disposal technique employed in Dimitrovgrad has led to the development of a methodology that can be applied to all deep-well injection sites. The results will be different in detail at different sites because of the sensitivity to many parameters such as chemical properties, and in particular on the geology and the properties of the confining layers. Also, the inventories at the various sites are quite different.
