In this study, a ubiquitous learning system constructed by using grid service engine was proposed to solve the difficulties of sharing learning resources distributed on different e-Learning platforms, named as u-Learning Grid. Moreover, this system not only makes the learning objects can collaborate and reuse effectively but also supports the learners to learn at anytime and anywhere. As WSDL of web service is still short in well definition and dispatch ability in service-level agreements for resources description, so that the distributed resources cannot effectively be managed and reached the collaboration among the services. On the other hand, grid services were generated based on web services and grid technology which support well descriptions of services and management mechanism. The u-Learning Grid is based on grid services technology combined with mobile devices and relevant technologies to support a system which is ubiquitous, collaborative, and resources can be managed and shared effectively. Three different learning platforms developed by ourselves are integrated with grid services engine to implement the whole system. In the experiment, English learning objects followed the SCORM standard were produced with access to learning via mobile phones.
