摘要

A CAE - based robust optimal design process was developed by integrating reliability and variability assessment tools with a multi-function visualization and optimization process. Using the integrated tool, robust optimal design could be achieved by including a set of variability and reliability constraints instead of deterministic constraints in the process of search for the optimal design. The process is suitable for cross-attribute large scale optimization and robust design. The process also ranks the significance of individual design variables to the robustness of any specified constraints and object functions. This information allows deign engineers to set up a tolerance strategy intelligently for improving the robustness and reducing the total cost of the product in the most effective way.
