The modified electrostatic model (Neumann and Toelle 1995) is applied to the impurity diffusion in γ-iron. The charge of the iron ion is Z_0 = 1. For 3d impurities effective charges are used, I.e. Z_2 = 2 for Ti, V, Mn, Z_2= 1.5 for Cr, Z_2 = 0.65 for Co and Z_2 = 0.4 for Ni, respectively. The calculated temperature functions of the impurity diffusion coefficients are compared with those of the most reliable experimental data. The results obtained for γ-iron agree with the respective results of the comparison for the impurity diffusion in copper.
