MPEG video streaming over IP is one of the mostrnchallenging applications in multimedia networking.rnBecause of dependency between frames in MPEG,rnit is important to achieve a good Quality-of-Servicern(QoS) for video streaming. It is known that therernmight be a lot of networking hops, networkrnelement systems like routers, until the datarnreaches the aimed hop. Therefore, congestion atrnthose hops should be avoided as much asrnpossible to achieve the desirable QoS. In thisrnpaper, we use computer simulations to simulate arnnetwork element system that supports EarlyrnFrame discarding (EFD) policy, Partial Framerndiscarding (PFD) policy, and a system with norncontrol policy. The goal of this simulation is tornmeasure the goodput, loss probability of packets,rnand buffer size distribution for these discardingrnpolicies.
