A performance optimization control method and control system for a powertrain of an electric vehicle are disclosed. A performance optimization control method of a powertrain of an electric vehicle comprises the steps of: designating a driving path of the electric vehicle; acquiring vehicle status data of the electric vehicle along the driving path by a sensor system of the electric vehicle, wherein the vehicle status data includes a state of charge of a drive battery of the electric vehicle and a battery temperature of the drive battery; determining a current position of the electric vehicle along the driving path by a navigation system; receiving a driver request through a driver interface of the electric vehicle; and continuously controlling, by a system control of the electric vehicle, at least one control parameter along the designated driving path based on a real-time control function based on the vehicle status data, the current position, and the driver request as input data, wherein the at least one control parameter includes torque distribution between a first electric machine driving a front axle of the electric vehicle and a second electric machine driving a rear axle of the electric vehicle, and torque distribution between the electric machine of the electric vehicle and an internal combustion engine of the electric vehicle, wherein the real-time control function is adapted to minimize a travel time along at least a part of the specific driving path while complying with predefined constraints on the vehicle status data.
