HEARING SYSTEM WITH AT LEAST ONE HEARING INSTRUMENT WORN IN OR ON THE EAR OF THE USER AND METHOD FOR OPERATING SUCH A HEARING SYSTEM

A hearing aid (2) to support a user's hearing is indicated, comprising at least one hearing instrument worn on the user's head (4). Furthermore, a method for operating the hearing system (2) is specified. By means of at least two input converters (6) of the hearing system (4), a sound signal from an environment of the user is recorded and converted into input audio signals (I1, I2). The input audio signals (I1, I2) are processed in a signal preparation step to generate an output audio signal (O),which is output by means of an output converter (8) of the hearing instrument (4). In the signal preparation step, the input audio signals (I1, I2) or audio signals derived from them by pre-processing (I1',I2') attenuated by means of an adaptive beamformer (28) according to a variable directional characteristic with a directional strength (s) in order to generate a directional audio signal (R1). The directional characteristic is varied with a predetermined adaptation speed (v1) such that the energy content of the directed audio signal (R1) is minimized. Adaptation speed (v1) and/or directional strength (s) are determined based on an analysis of input audio signals (I1, I2) or pre-processed audio signals (I1',I2') variable.
