The present application relates to a unidirectional fluid powered turbine having an improved flow accelerator that uses an asymmetric hydrofoil shape in some or all of the major components of the turbine. These components, which can be hydrofoiled, include, for example, rotor blade (34), center hub (36), rotor blade shroud (38), accelerator shroud (20), annular diffuser (40), wildlife and debris. Includes an exclusion device (10, 18), as well as a tail rudder (60). The fabrication method designs the various components that cooperate in optimizing the extraction of energy.
