The present application provides an extended reality data transmission method and apparatus. The method comprises: determining the data type as extended reality data; and according to the data type, determining that extended reality quality indication (XQI) information corresponding to a target rate is obtained according to time delay information and transmission error information, wherein the XQI information indicates the transmission quality of the extended reality data, and communicating according to the XQI information. The described XQI information can represent the transmission quality of extended reality (XR) data in a network, and the objective influence on the XR data in network transmission can be systematically evaluated by means of the method, thereby guiding a network operator to maintain and optimize the network according to demands for the XR data.
