Provided is near-infrared absorbing glass including at least, as constituent ions thereof, one or more types of ion selected from the group consisting of P ions, Cu ions, O ions, Li ions, Na ions, and K ions, and one or more types of ion selected from the group consisting of Mg ions, Ca ions, Sr ions, and Ba ions, wherein: in the glass composition as expressed by cation%, the amount of Cu ions is not more than 15.0 cation%, and the amount of P ions is not more than 55.0 cation%; the cation ratio ((Al ions + P ions)/(Mg ions + Ca ions + Sr ions + Ba ions + Zn ions + Cu ions)) of the total amount of Al ions and P ions to the total amount of Mg ions, Ca ions, Sr ions, Ba ions, Zn ions, and Cu ions is not more than 5.300; the cation ratio ((Mg ions + Ca ions + Sr ions + Ba ions)/(Li ions + Na ions + K ions)) of the total amount of Mg ions, Ca ions, Sr ions, and Ba ions to the total amount of Li ions, Na ions, and K ions is not less than 0.100; the average valence of cations excluding Cu ions and P ions is less than 1.500; in the glass composition as expressed by anion%, the amount of O ions is not less than 85.0 anion%; and the ratio (O ions / P ions) of the amount of O ions to the amount of P ions is not less than 3.300. Also provided is a near-infrared cut filter comprising this near-infrared absorbing glass.
