PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel taste improver excellent in taste improvement effect of a fruit juice or vegetable juice-containing food composition, the vegetable juice-containing food composition having taste improved by the taste improver, and a method for improving taste of the vegetable juice-containing food composition.;SOLUTION: There is provided a fruit juice and vegetable juice-containing food composition containing at least one or more component selected from sugar carboxylic acid of which an aldehyde group in a reduction terminal side of a starch decomposition product or a transfer reaction product having polymerization degree of 2 or more or lactone thereof.
