The invention concerns a process for producing curved profiles (10) from sheet metal (2),in particular lightweight construction profiles, on a bending machine (19),with a profiling station (4) and a flow direction (13) of the profile produced (10) subsequent bending station (21),where, prior to at least one profiling station (4), tensions and/or pressures and/or torsion tensions between a tensioning unit (3) and the bending station (21) are applied to the sheet to be profiled and bent (2, 5), the sheet to be profiled (2) under the influence of the tensions and/or pressures applied; and/or torsion stresses are first pre- or end-profiled at the profile station (4) of profiling tools and then the bending tools (9) of the bending station (21) bend the profiled sheet (5). A corresponding tool arrangement (18) is also indicated on a bending machine (19).
