Toothed gearing.-Relates to doublereduction gearing, suitable for electric motors, of the type in which driving and driven shafts are arranged in line and the drive takes place through three countershafts arranged symmetrically round this line. The driving-shaft L, supported in an oil-ring &c. bearing B, projects into a casing G and carries a pinion P' which may be formed in one with the shaft. The countershafts M carry wheels W1 meshing with the pinion P1 and pinions P2 meshing with a wheel W2 on the driven shaft N. To divide the load evenly, two of the wheels W1 are mounted adjustably on the shafts M. This may be done by arranging separate wheel bosses D and rims R with overlapping flanges through which fresh holes or securing - bolts are drilled after adjustment. The casing G may be arranged in two parts, the upper carrying one shaft M in ball &c. bearings, the lower carrying two shafts M. Shortened gear teeth may be used to increase the speed-ratio obtainable.
