Automatic musical instruments.-In a pneumatic player for musical instruments, the valve of the expression-regulating pneumatic is controlled by an attachment to the tellows. Fig. 1 is a section through the bellows and the regulating-pneumatic, and Fig. 2 is another section through the pneumatic. The passages 23, 24 lead to separate windchests for the bass and treble, and the air normally passes through the compartments 21, 22, ports 25 and 32, chamber 7, and passage 6 to the bellows. When a valve 26 is made to close one of the ports 25 for expression control, the air passes through the port 34, chamber 33, and bellows 9, and thence through the knife valve 10 to the chamber 7. The position of the knife 11 of the valve 10 is regulated by a spring 15 attached to the lever 16, and this lever is operated through the screw 18 by the bellows 4, the outline of which depends on the rate of pedalling, thus giving further control of expression.
