340. Thacker, H. Jan. 6. Knives, cleaning and polishing. - A box is provided to hold a special outfit for polishing knives. The box has two compartments, of which the larger contains sheets of tissue paper and a polishing- cloth, and the smaller contains a bottle or box of polishing-powder and a hand rubber. In operation, the box is closed, and a supply of polishing powder is mixed with liquid in a flanged saucer which fits into the hole E in the lid. The knife blades are rested on the box lid and rubbed with the hand rubber which has previously been dipped into the polishing-mixture. They are then wiped with a sheet of the tissue paper and polished with the cloth. A co-acting peg and slot F keep the lid in position during the operation.
