Buttons; brooches.-Light infrangible buttons, brooches, &c. having the appearance of enamel or porcelain are made by covering a body of material, such as wood, papier mÔchÚ, &c., with silk or other suitable fabric, on which a design is painted in water colours, the face of the button &c. being then coated with varnish or other suitable transparent material. The silk is generally first treated with a solution of gum and water, on which, when dry, a background of white or other water-colour paint is applied to receive the painted design.
