The jaws A, B and the shank G of the parallel vice shown are cast hollow as at A1, B1, the screw C and nut E being made from steel in the usual manner. The dotted lines are intended to show the skin of malleable iron, produced on the inner and outer surfaces, by ordinary malleablizing processes after casting.
