摘要
Ornamentation of textile fabrics carrying dyestuffs or embossing and like finishes or effects, to which permanency or fastness has been imparted by the formation on and in the fibres of an insoluble synthetic resin produced by condensation of formaldehyde with urea or allied compounds such as thiourea or dicyandiamide, is effected by removing the resin from selected areas by the application of an acid, e.g. tartaric or citric acid, or a substance yielding an acid on steaming, e.g. ammonium oxalate or tartrate, diethyl tartrate or diethylene glycol tartrate. The following examples are specified: (1) A viscose artificial silk fabric is impregnated in an aqueous solution at room temperature made by condensing urea with formaldehyde for 15 minutes at 30--35 DEG C. in aqueous solution at pH 7,5--8, neutralising, adding formaldehyde and a -chlorhydrin and diluting, and the fabric, containing its own weight of the solution, is then dried, embossed, heated for 50 seconds at 200 DEG C., washed in mild alkali and dried; the fabric is then printed with an aqueous paste containing gum tragacanth and citric acid, steamed for 20 minutes, rinsed in weak alkali, soaped hot, rinsed and dried to obtain a flat pattern on an embossed ground. (2) A viscose artificial silk fabric is impregnated in an aqueous solution of a urea formaldehyde condensate as in (1) containing Lissamine fast yellow 2G and the fabric, containing its own weight of the solution, is dried, heated for 50 seconds at 200 DEG C., washed in mild alkali and dried; it is then printed with an aqueous paste containing gum tragacanth and ammonium tartrate and after-treated as in (1) to obtain a white pattern on a yellow ground. (3) A fabric having a cotton warp and a viscose artificial silk weft is impregnated as in (2), dried, embossed, heated for 50 seconds at 200 DEG C., washed in mild alkali and dried; it is then printed with an aqueous paste containing gum tragacanth and tartaric acid, dried, steamed for 20 minutes, rinsed in weak alkali, soaped hot, rinsed and dried to obtain a flat white pattern on a yellow embossed ground. (4) A viscose artificial silk fabric is impregnated in an aqueous solution of a urea-formaldehyde condensate as in (1), dried, embossed, heated, washed and dried as in (1); it is then printed with an aqueous paste containing gum tragacanth, ammonium oxalate and Soledon jade green, dried, steamed for 20 minutes, passed through a cold solution containing potassium bichromate and sulphuric acid, washed in weak alkali, soaped hot, rinsed and dried to obtain a flat pale green pattern on a white embossed ground. (5) A fabric having a cotton warp and a viscose artificial silk weft is impregnated, dried, embossed, heated, washed, dried, printed and after-treated as in (1); it is then dyed with Chlorazol fast red K, soaped, rinsed and dried to obtain a flat pink pattern on a white embossed ground. (6) The embossed, printed and after-treated fabric in (5) is padded with an alkaline solution of the anilide of 2 : 3-oxynaphthoic acid, dried, developed with a solution of diazotized 4-nitro-2-aminotoluene, washed, soaped, rinsed and dried to obtain a flat pink pattern on a white embossed ground. (7) A viscose artificial silk fabric dyed with Chlorazol fast red K is impregnated as in (1), dried, embossed, heated for 50 seconds at 200 DEG C., washed in mild alkali and dried; it is then printed with a paste containing gum tragacanth, zinc formaldehydesulphoxylate and diethylene glycol tartrate, dried, steamed for 20 minutes, rinsed in weak alkali, soaped hot, rinsed and dried to obtain a white flat pattern on a red embossed ground. Specifications 425,032 and 437,642 are referred to.
