摘要
The action of sulphate-reducing bacteria, which in the presence of sulphate and organic matter liberate hydrogen sulphide, is inhibited by means of a dyestuff of the 3 : 6 diaminoacridine group, for instance acriflavine, proflavine; 2 : 7 dimethyl-3 : 6 diaminoacridinium hydrochloride or 2 : 7 : 10 trimethyl-3 : 6 diaminoacridinium hydrochloride. The dyestuff may be applied to concrete structures in contact with sewage, may be added to the water at the base of gas holders, may be applied to pipes laid in soil, for instance by impregnation of a fabric wrapping of the pipes, or may be added to liquid or solid media, such as to sewage, soil, sea water, estuarine water or the like, in contact with metal or concrete structures, such as articles used in storage or transport of petroleum products, pipes laid in soil, submarine cables in storage tanks, or condenser tubes using estuarine water in the cooling system. Corrosion of the metal or concrete, or contamination of the gas is thus prevented. A quantity of the dyestuff sufficient to maintain a concentration varying between 1 in 50,000 and 1 in 1,500,000, according to the degree of infection or other circumstances, is sufficient.ALSO:The action of sulphate-reducing bacteria, which in the presence of sulphate and organic matter liberate hydrogen sulphide, is inhibited by means of a dyestuff of the 3 : 6-diaminoacridine group, for instance acriflavine, proflavine; 2 : 7-dimethyl-3 : 6-diaminoacridinium hydrochloride or 2 : 7 : 10-trimethyl-3 : 6-diamino-acridinium hydrochloride.
