[Class 87 (ii)] A tyre mould includes two mating mould shells 1 1a, each housing a plurality of abutting segments 4, 4a, each segment having two circumferential rows of patterning 5, 5a. Inserts 12, or 7 and 8, are accommodated in grooves 6, 6a intermediate of the patterning 5, 5a, and held in place by undercuts 2, 2a. The segments and inserts may be die-cast. According to the Provisional Specification the inserts may be held in place by screws, dowels, or welding, the lines of junction of the various parts may be peened down and arranged to coincide with or match features of the tread pattern, and the inserts may be assembled directly into mould shells, segments such as 4 and 4a being dispensed with.
