Classes 100(i) and 100(ii) Means for feeding sheets in a printing-machine comprises a hollow rotatable cylinder 1 connected to a source of suction, a number of peripheral holes 27 leading to the interior of the cylinder, and an automatically-controlled tubular member 22 which is slotted and adapted to establish communication between the holes 27 and the interior of the cylinder, or with the atmosphere, respectively, according to whether a sheet 28 is to be held on or released from the cylinder. One journal 2 of the cylinder has a passage 10 therethrough which is connected to a source of suction through a pipe 16. A thickened portion of the cylinder is bored to receive the tube 22 which is provided with a crank 23 having a pin engaging in a cam groove in a fixed disc 26. When the cylinder is rotated the tube 22 is rocked, and slots in the tube 22 allow the holes 27 to communicate with the interior of the cylinder by way of slots 19, or with the atmosphere by way of end recesses 20 in the cylinder.
