Preferably a spring steel bar 5 is mounted rigidly on the machine and carries a plurality of fingers 4 of felt or the like. Stripping may be facilitated by a rotating brush which engages the leading edge of the element before stripping. After stripping the wafers 7 slide down bars 8 on to a conveyer 10.
