A sun visor for a vehicle adapted to be positioned adjacent the interior side of the windscreen, comprises a hinge member 23 extending substantially the entire length of the visor, a frame 27 secured to the hinge member and extending from one end of the visor to an intermediate portion thereof, a sheet metal guide member 28 secured to the frame and forming a continuation thereof, the guide member having an elongated guideway 32 formed at the lower edge thereof and an aligned guideway adjacent the upper edge thereof between the guide member 28 and a portion of the hinge member 23, a visor extension 21 slidable on the guideways and a cover 37 surrounding the hinge member, frame, and guide member. The frame 27 is secured to a flange 24 of the hinge member 23 which has a cylindrical portion 22 within which the horizontal arm 16 of a supporting rod is frictionally received, the rod terminating at one end in a vertical portion 17 pivotally mounted on a bracket secured to the vehicle. The visor extension 21 has a lug 35 which co-operates with a stop screw 36 through the hinge member 23 to limit outward movement of the extension. The frame 27 may be of fibre-board or pressed wood board, the visor extension 21 may be of coloured plastic, either translucent, or opaque, and the cover 37 may be of cardboard or fibrecovered board, with binding around the edges except where the visor extension slides through.
