摘要
PICT:0737401/IV (c)/1 PICT:0737401/IV (c)/2 In a process for spraying textile materials with a liquid the liquid is taken up on a rotating wheel or disc and is spun off as a fine spray which is directed on to the material to be treated. Fig. 2 shows a textile spraying apparatus in which a series of discs 10 mounted on an axle 12 dip into treatment liquid 13 and are rotated at high speed so that liquid is taken up and sprayed off of the top edges of the discs through an opening 28 in the side wall of the container 11 on to the textile to be treated. The level of liquid 13 is maintained constant by a supply from reservoir 18 and the width of the aperture 28 may be adjusted by raising or lowering the compartment 30 and a baffleplate 34 is provided. Any excess liquid which falls into compartment 30 or drip-tray 33 is returned to pool 13. In a modification shown in Fig. 7 the spray-producer comprises four pairs of annular discs 33 mounted on a rotating shaft 35 which is housed in a box 34 having a false bottom 38 which is kept partly covered with treatment liquid fed in via supply pipe 54 from a glass syphon meter. The size of the opening 40 through which the spray passes may be adjusted by means of a movable plate 45 mounted on axle 46. A vertical baffle 44 is provided and also an angled baffle plate 41 which has a vertical portion 42 which is provided with teeth, Fig. 6 (not shown), the gaps in between which are positioned in line with the planes of rotation of the discs 10. Outside of the wall 39 of the box 34 is mounted a catchpot 50 which can be rotated on an axle 51; when in the down position shown, any liquid which falls into it is discharged via a pipe. A given treatment rate may be effected by feeding in a known quantity of liquid from pipe 54, catching the spray from discs 33 in catchpot 50 and measuring the liquid so caught. The catchpot is then raised and the textile to be treated passed in front of opening 40. The process is described as of special use for treating textile fibres during or prior to spinning with silicon sols, for example of the type described in Specifications 607,696, 611,914, 626,847, 645,703, 649,896, 649,897, 654,850, [all in Group III], 654,858; 660,593, 662,423 and 663,013, [all in Group III]. The silicon sols sold under the Registered Trade Mark "Syton" are very suitable.
