An isolatable circuit-breaker 10 is supported on runner wheels 11 in channel-section rails 12. As shown, the breaker is in the service position with isolating contacts 13, 14 connected. When the breaker is withdrawn to the isolated position, the pin 23 moves along the top of guide 27, between guide 27 and guide 26, and along the bottom of guide 26. This movement of pin 23 rotates a plate 24 pivoted to rail 12 and a link 25 rotates a plate 21 on spindle 22. The movement is transferred by links 19 and 20 to shutters 16, 17 which come together and cover the fixed contact aperture in a plate 15, the guide 26 locking the pin 23 against movement in the opening direction. When the breaker is moved back to the service position the action of the shutters is reversed. The two shutters can be padlocked together if the breaker is removed for servicing.
