Finely divided material which has a high degree of absorbency and is in the form of a dry or substantially dry powder is rubbed into the surface of a base support of fibrous material and then the support is coated with a light-sensitive composition. Diazotype compositions only are described for the purpose. In Example 1 silica is rubbed into raw base paper by a series of rotating brushes, excess is removed by an air jet and a specified twocomponent diazotype solution is applied.
