The production rates of P-wave mesons and promptly produced vector mesons for light and heavy flavours are analyzed using results of the LEP experiments. It is shown that the mass dependence of production rates for the bottom B{sup}*, B{sub}1{sup}* and B{sub}2{sup}*, charm D{sup}(*+), D{sub}1{sup}0 and D{sub}2{sup}(*0), strange charm D{sub}s{sup}(*+) and D{sub}(s1){sup}0, and light-flavour ρ{sup}0 and f{sub}2(1275), K{sup}(*0)(892) and K{sub}2{sup}(*0)(1430), Φ and f{sub}2{sup}'(1525) mesons is very very similar. This allows to relate the relative production rates for mesons with different flavours and, surprisingly, their masses.
