[Also in Divisions G1 and G4] A safe includes a mechanism for immobilising the door in response to X rays, gamma rays or neutrons. The immobilising device may be mounted on the lock casing and includes a pin 7 arranged to penetrate an aperture in the lock casing in response to current in a solenoid 6 from a radiation detector (Fig. 1, see Division Gl). The steel pin 7 is normally retracted so that a spring-loaded arm 9 engages a groove in the pin 7. The arm 9 may now take up a position so as to prevent return of the pin 7 until it is freed by an inertia-resetting lever 10 arranged to restore the arm 9 into engagement with a pawl 11 in response to a blow on the safe casing.
