A lamp post comprising a tubular mast having a cylindrical head portion 1a and a tubular lantern carrying arm 2 with a cylindrical base 4 welded thereto, the arm is held in mast by screws 6 passing through holes 5 and is secured against rotation by a protrusion 1b on the head portion engaging in one of a series of depressions 4b in a reduced diameter portion 4a of the base 4.
