The sex of offspring produced by artificial insemination can be determined by the principle that male - determinated sperms are positively charged and female - determinative sperms negatively. The fluid containing live sperms is exposed to the action of a medium which has an electrical charge of one polarity. This fixes preferentially sperms of the opposite charge to this medium and makes them immobile in the fluid. These immobile sperms are flocculated and separated by filtration. They are then made mobile again by separating the sperms from the medium with the opposite electrical charge.
