A metal reinforcement section (10) has transverse arches (10a) linked by lengthwise bars (10b). During the initial stage of manufacture, the reinforcement is flat and a coating of plastic is applied. The surface (11c) on which rests the edge of the window, is also covered by a layer of a different type of plastic which facilitates the movement of the window. Flexible lips which can prevent water seepage are added to the ends of the reinforcement section. These lips are in a softer plastic than the coating material. Reinforcement covered with plastic is then bent to form its final U-shaped section in two stages.
