In an evaporation plant consisting of a preheater and single or multiple effect evaporator the concn. of the feed stock is measured and its value is used to control the feed flow rate to the preheater, the heat input to the preheater and the heat input to the evaporator, in order to maintain a constant flow rate and concn. of the prod. System is useful for evaporation plants such as those used for milk. Good product quality is obtd.
