A waste-disposal unit (v1 to v6) is directly linked with the discharge pipe (1) on each storey. A collector-pipe (2) is positioned horizontally in the basement. The base of the discharge pipe is joined to the collector-pipe (2) by means of a gate (V1), and the rubbish collected on the gate-lid is removed by an air flow in the collector-pipe. Each storey has a discharge-gate, above the corresponding waste-disposal unit, of a shutter-type. Each shutter (3) is hinged at one end to a horizontal axle (4) and is controlled by a jack (5). A water-tight casing (6) houses the axle (4) and jack (5) and is bolted onto a frame (8) fitted into an aperture in the pipe (1).
