The unit (UE) has a receiving space (AR) for multiple containers (4) for residual substances and valuable material. A cover (25) covers the receiving space, and a filler shaft (ES) for the substances is accessible from outside. A lift-slab floor (23) raises the containers located in the receiving space. The lift-slab floor is raised over a port (19) that is acted upon with lower pressurized working medium from the outside. The working medium is air for operating a pneumatics lifting mechanism i.e. external lifting device (11), which is located below the lift-slab floor. An independent claim is also included for a method for emptying a lower floor panel container that is located below a movable cover.
