The X-ray tube contains an electron source and spaced monocrystal anode, as in 2223953, and an X-ray beam deflection surface. The anode contains a longitudinal recess, forming X-ray emitting surfaces, while an electron accelerating device acts in the direction of the emitting surfaces. Preferably the anode recess is cylindrical, or its cross section may be elliptical. Several electron sources may be used. The emitting surfaces of the anode recess are typically arranged in planes which together cooperate for the X-ray beam deflection. These surfaces may be coated in a film of material with high electron emitting capacity, such as tungsten, molybdenum, platinum or copper.
