Pedal lifted welders helmet - uses bowden cable from foot pedal to raise smoked glass panel

The welder's helmet comprises a visor with a transparent panel and a dark glass panel which is vertically slidable and which can be moved outwardly away from the plane of the visor by a Bowden cable operated by a foot pedal. The glass is guided vertically within a flat housing having a height at least twice that of the visor. The housing has over approx. half its main surface a projecting frame for retaining the transparent panel. On the other half of its main surface, the housing is expanded along its vertical centre line in the form of a hollow cylinder which receives the return spring and front end of the Bowden cable.
