Rate of diffusion of a biologically active substance embedded in a carrier is controlled by bringing the non-diffusible substance into contact with a fluid disposed about the carrier and selection of the length and cross-section of the fluid permeable path through the carrier. Used for administering oral medicine intake. Biologically active substance is methotrexate.
