METHOD FOR AUTOMATICALLY DOFFING COPS IN A RING SPINNER

To lower the cops to, and raise spools from, pins 18 on conveyor 19, a structure 24 is movable transversely of the spinner by pinion 26 via rack 25. The structure slidably supports, Fig. 2, blocks 23 which are oppositely moved by chain 23' to raise and lower gripper-support bar 13 via pivotable bars 20. Grippers 16, and spool grippers 14, may comprise inflatable tubular sleeves or may be mechanically actuated. If insufficient space exists above pins 18, doffed cops may be replaced on the end grippers 15 re-engaged with the top of the cops.
